The 80’s “Hairy” Tale

Rapornzel

A Holiday Pantomime

Written by Tom Whalley
Directed by Claire Hart Proepper
November 24 - December 14, 2025

Once upon a time, in a tower far, far away, a princess with magical downstairs hair awaits rescue from the evil Mother F**ker. Will Prince Ride-Her and the Hairy Fairy Dandruff save the day? Will Rapornzel be stuck in the dungeon forever?

PrideArts presents the latest installment in Tom Whalley's wildly popular adult pantomime series, a raucous, 1980s-themed romp that brings British panto tradition to Chicago's LGBTQ+ community. Following the success of Jack Off the Beanstalk, Throbbin Wood, and Sleeping with Beauty, Rapornzel delivers the outrageous double entendres, audience participation, and unapologetic queerness that have made this series a Chicago holiday tradition.

Set against a backdrop of neon, big hair, and synth-pop energy, Rapornzel combines the nostalgic fantasy of Labyrinth and The Princess Bride with the irreverent humor of British pantomime. Expect spectacular musical numbers, interactive moments that break the fourth wall, and comedy that pushes every boundary.

This is not your childhood fairy tale. This is 18+ theater at its finest.

Full bar available. Audience participation mandatory. Inhibitions optional.
